About the Author
The "South Jersey Foodie" is Nicole Pellegrini, sometimes known as sockii. She enjoys life as a writer, artist, webmaster, crafter and avid food-lover living in some of the last vestiges of active farmland in Gloucester County, New Jersey. She shares her home with her partner David, a podiatrist in Woodbury NJ and their six cats: Peanut, Norman, Sammo, Mischief, George and Benny.
I believe in enjoying life - and that includes enjoying as many different kinds and styles of food as possible. I am an omnivore with a personal passion for small, sustainable, ethical farming and natural foods. I have little patience for the "Food Police" or those who advocate that one dietary plan is the only "right" one for everyone. Find your personal balance and conscience; make food a joy in your life - that's my motto.

I love making homemade pizza, especially coming up with new and interesting pizza flavor combinations to try when certain vegetables are at their peak and can be showcased for a wonderful and unexpected meal.
If you’re going to use fancy stands to show off your pizzas, and hopefully make them more appetizing?
We spent the bulk of two days at the Ringling Estate in Sarasota, exploring not just their impressive art museum and attending a conference on Paolo Veronese but else enjoying the lush estate grounds, touring the Ca’ d’Zan Mansion and the Circus Museums (because yes, the Ringling in the museum name is THAT Ringling, from the Ringling Brothers Circus.)
Sunday, October 28. Again we were awoken by the warning siren for acqua alta – I believe it was a three-tone alarm that morning, no less. Knowing it would be ugly outside, we spent a leisurely morning in our apartment before venturing outside. We also had to spend some time seriously looking up the news about approaching Hurricane Sandy at home; our flight back to the States was scheduled for the following day. It was seeming increasingly less likely we’d actually be flying anywhere anytime soon and I’d already received an alert from US Air that I could reschedule my flight without penalty. But we decided to wait until that evening to make our plans and decision for sure.
