Return visit: Mandarin Oriental in Mullica Hill, New Jersey

It’s been a while since I’ve checked in with Mandarin Oriental, the Japanese/Chinese restaurant in the Shop Rite shopping plaza in Mullica Hill. I know previously I’d found their food decent, if not exceptional, perhaps lacking a little bit in finesse as far as their sushi was concerned (although I always found the hot entrees and appetizers very tasty). So the sweetie and I decided to return the other week to give them another go. I was getting ready to head out on a long road trip and prepping dinner on top of all my other pre-trip chores just wasn’t in the cards. I’m glad we did as we enjoyed a very good meal.

First taste: Naples of Mullica Hill

Earlier this year,  Mullica Hill favorite Naples Pizza moved from its longtime location at The Old Mill Antique Mall across the street to the Warehouse, a former sweet potato warehouse now converted into restaurant and shopping space. Toscana in Mullica Hill now closed…and one mystery post finally solved.

Just recently, I learned that local Italian restaurant Toscana in Mullica Hill has closed its doors. Patrons are encouraged to visit A’Pizze in Swedesboro, their sister restaurant where many of the staff will now be found.

Heritage Vineyards in Mullica Hill, New Jersey

Heritage Vineyards was recently named New Jersey’s “Winery of the Year” by the Garden State Wine Growers Association, and after visiting them it is easy to see why. This family-owned and operated winery has over 40 acres of vineyards, planted in Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Grenache & Sauvignon Blanc. With so many wine grapes grown on the premises, it is no wonder they produce so many award-winning wines (blended and single variety) here.

Review: Toscana Pizzeria and Grill in Mullica Hill, New Jersey

Steak and Grilled Vegetables at ToscanaMullica Hill isn’t exactly a foodie goldmine. There aren’t very many restaurants in the tiny little town but one of the few we do have is Toscana. It looks like a chain, as so many suburban Italian joints do, but the food is certainly generally better than your typical Olive Garden. Not everything they prepare is awesome but overall it’s decent if you know what to order, and also like every restaurant in Mullica Hill it’s BYOB.
