Cherry Hill Mall Restauant Week Preview at The Capital Grille

“Restaurant Week” promotions are becoming increasingly popular throughout the Philadelphia and surrounding regions as a way to draw dining customers in to sample different restaurants at discounted prices. I’ve written in the past about my mixed feelings for Philadelphia’s Restaurant Week, so I haven’t made it a point in the past to try the South Jersey Hot Chefs or Collingswood versions. But yesterday I had the chance to sample some of the menu items for Cherry Hill Mall’s first-ever Restaurant Week at one of their participating restaurants: The Capital Grille. All in all it was a lovely experience and I enjoyed just about everything I tasted.

Drink Them Before They’re Famous: Autumn Tasting Dinner at Seasons 52

With the change of season from summer into autumn, now is the time for a new Autumn menu at Seasons 52. Autumn is a favorite time of year for many, and a great time of the year to enjoy late-harvest crops such as squash, mushrooms and pumpkin. Last night I was able to taste some of the new (or updated) offerings at Seasons 52 in Cherry Hill New Jersey as part of their “Drink Them Before They’re Famous” wine program. Master Sommelier George Miliotes at Seasons 52 always does a wonderful job pairing interesting wines with Chef Clifford Pleau’s menu, and I always walk away from one of these events with new wines on my “must buy” list. Last night was no exception.

Strawberry Lemon Smash

Strawberry Lemon Smash

Last night I had the pleasure to preview the new Summer menu items at Seasons 52 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Overall I liked nearly everything I tasted and appreciated how these new offerings celebrated so much of what makes summer my favorite season for food and dining.

Seasons 52: New Spring Menu Review

Seasons 52 Exterior

On Tuesday night I had the pleasure and privilege of being able to experience the new offerings on Seasons 52 spring menu, as well as hear the restaurant’s Culinary Director Clifford Pleau and Master Sommelier George Miliotes talk about these latest appetizers, entrees and drinks via a live webcast. Now, those who know me well know that I am often skeptical about “chain restaurants”, even as I admit they have a respectable place and time in the dining world. When I’m on the road in unfamiliar territory, especially in suburban areas lacking many local, unique dining experiences, there are certain chains I’m relieved to find because I know I will be able to enjoy a certain constant, consistent level of food. Yet in general I always prefer to dine at local, independent, non-chain establishments when I can.

Quick Bite: Pho Barclay in Cherry Hill, New Jersey

I’ve finally begun exploring and shopping at the Asian supermarkets in the Cherry Hill area, which is great as I can stock up on noodles, sauces, and vegetables that I can’t get normally like mustard greens, daikon, Vietnamese herbs and other assorted good stuff. While shopping at Asian Food Market, I noticed Pho Barclay in the same shopping plaza. I was hungry and it was lunchtime, so why not? I’ve been missing my Vietnamese food fix since moving out of Philadelphia, where I was a huge fan of Vietnam Palace – especially their insanely good Vermicelli Noodle plates.
